NEWCASTLE  - A SEASIDE CITY WITH A RICH TRADITION IN HOCKEY

Novocastrians are quite proud of their sporting traditions with its unique diversity of national and international quality representatives - playing, coaching and administering. This quality has been, and continues to be very evident in hockey with numerous representatives since hockey commenced in the city in the 1930s. a small sample from our hockey hall of fame includes Colleen Quinn, Chris Fernance, Ray Wright, Paul Dearing, Stewart Dearing.

Hockey for veterans ( over 40) commenced in 1980 and Newcastle is now one of the strongest areas in Australia for Masters hockey, and apart from the year-round mid-week competition, we field multiple teams in all age groups in the NSW State Masters Championships (34, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70). Players from Newcastle make up a large part of the NSW teams that are selected to compete in the annual Australian Championships.

NSW MASTERS STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Nominations are called for players, managers and umpires. In regard to umpires, we will provide HNSW Masters with the names of umpires who nominate. It will be the decision of HNSW Masters as to whether a nominated umpire is approved.  For non-playing umpires who are approved by HNSW, we will cover your accommodation and will also pay $50 per game. Those umpires will be required to umpire two games on the Friday and two on the Saturday. HNSW appoints umpires (from the group that umpires on the Friday and Saturday)for the finals on the Sunday and will be responsible for paying them for the games on the Sunday. If a player is also chosen to umpire, we will not cover his accommodation, but will pay $50 per game for the four games.

Team managers - we will cover the accommodation of NON-PLAYING managers.

HNSW Annual Registration.

It is necessary to be registered with HNSW to play in the championships. or the Newcastle Men's Senior competition.

Please note that the Registration titled "Masters Only" allows a player who registers on that basis, to play in ONE state championships only per year. That type of registration does not qualify a player to play in a second state championships or to play in any other competition, such as our local masters competition, or the Newcastle Senior men's winter competition.

Dear Hockey NSW Clubs and Associations,
Below are the 2023 fees for the Full Year and Term 1 Hockey Season. The Hockey Australia and National Insurance levies are be split from the Hockey NSW fees during the payment process and paid directly to Hockey Australia. As such we are displaying the fees in separate tables. All Hockey Australia, National Insurance levies and Hockey NSW fees will still be paid at the same time, online through the revolutioniseSPORT portal.
 .
Hockey Australia will increase the adult and junior memberships by $7.50 per member, this due to the significant increase in operational costs across the whole organisation plus the addition of increased costs in Insurance.

Hockey NSW fees will increase CPI. Hockey NSW will also be releasing a 5 game membership in early 2023, if any associations are interested in taking up this option we ask that you reach out to us via the hockey@hockeynsw.com.au email address and we will work with each association.

2023 ASSOCIATION AFFILIATION FEE
Each affiliated Association is required to pay an affiliation fee which will be invoiced in early March 2023 with payment due in late March 2023. The affiliation fee payable by each Association will be $8.25 per registered player, official, coach and manager in the previous year. Noting the calculation will only be based on primary registered players for each Association.
